Greetings NMAPA Families,
We are well into 2nd Semester and have a couple of announcements to share with you:

Accommodations for Students Observing Ramadan:
As a GCPS school we ensure to support any student observing Ramadan. If you have a student observing Ramadan, please contact your student's Homeroom teacher to notify the school so that we can ensure accommodations are made. For any student or staff observing the holiday, the following is in place.

  • We have identified an area in the school for students requesting space for prayer during the school day and/or a separate lunch location while fasting.
  • Accommodations for physical education classes, including alternate activities and assurance that students will not be penalized if unable to participate due to fasting.
  • Accommodations for take-home meals provided by School Nutrition Program (SNP) staff, families will need to register using the link & information below.

Gwinnett County Public Schools is pleased to share that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved a waiver allowing schools in Georgia to provide takeaway meals to students who are fasting during Ramadan.
These waivers allow eligible students to receive breakfast and lunch in a manner that aligns with their religious observance, beginning at sunset Tuesday, February 17, 2026, through sunset Thursday, March 19, 2026, on school days. Please note that takeaway meals will not be available on  the Digital Learning Day on Friday, March 13.
If you do not wish to participate, no action is required.

Who is eligible?

  • Enrolled GCPS students who are fasting during Ramadan may receive takeaway meal service.

Meal distribution

  • Meals will be available for pick-up after school for students who attend school that day.
  • Each school will share details about the pick-up location. Students who receive takeaway meals may not also participate in the school breakfast or lunch program during the school day.
  • The menu and heating instructions are on our website.

Meal price

  • Meals will be provided based on each student’s Free, Reduced, or Paid meal eligibility.

Meal limits

  • Only one breakfast and one lunch may be provided per student per day.
  • Students who receive a takeaway meal may not receive a meal during the school day.

 Weekly registration

Families will receive weekly registration reminders during Ramadan. The district does not collect or maintain information about students’ religious affiliation, so reminders are shared with all families to ensure that anyone who wishes to participate has access to the information and registration form.
